Can your dye be mixed with alcohol or ethanol to dilute?Updated 2 months ago

Yes! Our leather dyes—including both Low VOC and regular formulas—can be safely diluted with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol (IPA). This is a great option if you’re looking to achieve a lighter shade or a thinner consistency for smoother application on leather.

However, when it comes to suede dyes, extra care is needed. Suede is a delicate material, and adding too much alcohol can dry it out or alter its texture, potentially affecting the overall look and feel.

For diluting suede dyes, we only recommend using Neutral Suede Dye. This specially formulated blend of water, alcohol, and glycerin allows you to lighten the color without compromising the softness and integrity of the suede. Using Neutral Suede Dye ensures a safe and even dilution while keeping your suede looking and feeling its best!
