To prep, soak the cotton canvas in cold water with mild soap, then rinse and leave it damp.

Keep in mind that treated canvas—especially waxed or waterproof varieties—can be difficult to dye. Always check the care instructions first. If the fabric is labeled "cold water only" or "dry clean only," we don’t recommend dyeing it.
