How do I use Angelus Neon Paints?Updated 2 months ago
Neon paints are a great way to make your project pop, but they require a little extra care for the best results. Since Neon colors tend to be thinner due to their pigment, we recommend mixing them with a similar standard color to add some thickness and improve coverage.
After properly prepping your surface (see Prep section), follow these steps for the best application:
✔ Lay down 1-2 base coats of a standard Angelus Paint color that closely matches your Neon shade—avoid using Neons, Pearlescents, or Metallics as a base. You can also mix a similar standard color directly into the Neon paint to help improve opacity and application.
✔ Once your base is dry, apply thin, even coats of Neon paint until you reach solid coverage.
✔ For the smoothest and most even finish, airbrushing Neons are highly recommended—it helps prevent streaks and ensures a vibrant result.
✔ To enhance and protect the Neon finish, apply a coat of Angelus Neutral Paint on top for a clean, polished look. This is only a recommendation, not a must.
Taking your time with these steps will ensure that your Neon colors come out bright, bold, and beautiful—and they’ll glow under black light for an extra pop!
