Quick Guide for using Angelus PaintUpdated a month ago
Yes, you can use Angelus Paint on many surfaces! While the painting process is usually the same, surface prep and additives may vary depending on the material.
Surface | Key Product(s) | Why It's Essential |
---|---|---|
Leather | Removes factory finish for better adhesion; adds protection and desired finish sheen. | |
Canvas & Denim | Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit, Angelus 2-Soft (optional) | Cleans surface of oils/dirt; softens paint texture for a more natural feel. |
Patent Leather / Foam / Vinyl | Removes slick finish, roughens surface for adhesion, restores high-gloss shine. |
Option 1: Leather
Shoes, sneakers, clothing, furniture, and more.
Prep by wiping leather with Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer using an applicator, cotton ball, or rag.
Let dry for a few minutes, then wipe with a microfiber towel to remove lint.
Apply 3–5 thin layers of Angelus Paint, allowing 15–30 minutes dry time between coats.
Note: Neon colors require a base coat of a similar shade before application.
Cure for 24–48 hours in a dust-free environment. Longer cure times improve durability.
(Optional) Apply 1–2 layers of Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat to protect and adjust sheen (Flat, Satin, Gloss, or Matte).
Option 2: Canvas & Denim
Shoes, clothing, art canvases, and more.
Clean thoroughly with Angelus Easy Cleaner Kit to remove oils and dirt.
Allow to dry completely and remove all cleaner residue.
(Optional) Mix Angelus 2-Soft with paint for a softer, integrated feel. Without it, paint will have more of a screen-printed texture.
Apply 3–5 thin layers of Angelus Paint, drying 15–30 minutes between coats.
Note: Neon colors require a base coat of a similar shade before application.
(Optional) For sheen changes, apply Angelus 4-Coat Clear Coat. Extra protection is generally not necessary as the paint soaks into the fibers.
Option 3: Patent Leather / Foam / Vinyl
Plastic, soft foam, vinyl shoes, heels, clothing, furniture, and more. (Airbrush recommended)
Prep by wiping with Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer.
Sand lightly with high-grit sandpaper (800–1500) to roughen the slick surface.
Wipe again with preparer and microfiber towel to remove sanding residue.
(Optional) Apply an adhesion promoter made for vinyl/plastic (e.g., BullDog Adhesion Promoter, not sold by Angelus).
Apply 3–5 thin layers of Angelus Paint, drying 15–30 minutes between coats.
Note: Neon colors require a base coat of a similar shade before application.
(Optional) For very glossy finishes, airbrushing will produce the smoothest results. If using a brush, a heat gun can help level layers (use with caution).
Apply Angelus 4-Coat High Gloss to restore patent-like shine.
Dry in a lint-free environment.
