Why did the dye make my item bronze / iridescent?Updated 24 days ago
A bronze or iridescent effect means too much dye was applied.
Cause | Fix |
---|---|
Excess dye on the surface | Wipe with rubbing alcohol to remove excess. Reapply in light, even coats if needed. |
Pro Tip:
After dyeing, apply Mink Oil or a wax in a similar color to even out the finish and restore a clean look.
Why It Happens:
Dye works by soaking into the material, when too much sits on top, it leaves a bronzed or shiny residue.
